Cobras Announce New Alliance

The Cobras have just announced their newest sales endeavor with energy drink company Fit₂Oh. The new partnership is just one of the many ways the Cobras hope to spread a message about living healthy and happy. The Cobras are hoping this strategy will not only increase sales for both parties, but encourage fans to make decisions to support an active lifestyle.

Under the partnership, fitness drink ads will be plastered around the stadium, Fit₂Oh will be available for purchase through concessions and vending machines, and Coover players themselves will publicize the drink through a series of appearances. The partnership will be publicly announced next week at a press conference, players will discuss their hydration needs on and off the field as well as the correlation between health and performance.

"We want to spread a positive message to our fans, young and old alike, about the importance of healthy living styles and safe excercise. We hope that our relations with Fit₂Oh will show fan that it is easy and tasty to live such a lifestyle" said Cobras cheif marketing advisor, James Leonard.

Batting for a Cause

This June, the Cobras will once again hold their "Batting for a Cause" benefit to support The American Cancer Society. For those of you who don't know, the benefit is an all day event open to the public. Throughout the day there will be several games between proffessional, minor league, college, high school, and little league teams. A portion of the proceeds from ticket sales, sponsorship, concessions, and donations will benefit the American Cancer Society. Last year, Batting for a Cause raised over $100,000 and this year the Cobras are hoping to DOUBLE the proceeds.

About the benefit, player Carter Morales told the press "Batting for a Cause is definately a family event, it is always fun for all. But more importantly, we are helping a great cause. Cancer is huge concern for many families and can strike at anytime. We'd love to lend a helping hand"

Celebrating Cobra Style

Budweiser stadium is offering three levels of quality for your next event; Silver, Gold and Platinum, as well as several services that can be added for a more personalized experience. Do you want to meet the team?

In an effort to increase food and beverage sales, the Cobras at Budweiser Stadium are having a little contest at Saturday's Game against the Grizzlies. Yes folks, a competition off of the mound! One lucky fan who purchases a 32 oz. Souvenier Cup (14.99) will win a free T-Shirt and the opportunity to meet and greet the Cobra's themselves! New Special Edition Tee Shirts!

In addition to the usual merchandise, the Cobras have released a set of LIMITED EDITION apparel. The collection will only be available for purchase untill June 30, 2012. You know what that means? Fans need to start buying their 2012 apparel as soon as possible. The collection has a variety of Baseball Tees, V-Necks, Tanks, Hats and Children's wear ranging from $5.99 to $39.99. I know I'll have to get my hands on these while they last! A press statement from the Cobras stated "We'd love for our fans to not only support their team by sporting authentic Cobras gear, but also create memories for themselves. The 2012 limited edition item will truly be worth holding onto, as we expect a spectacular season ahead". You hear that folks? The 2012 line is a great investment! Here's a few of my favorites:

Another Cobra Win!

Looks like the Cobras pulled it off again this time! When meeting up with the Redbirds for the first time since their infamous loss, the Cobras sure had the homefield advantage. The game started off relatively slowly; neither team scored until the fifth inning, but from then on, the teams were scoring left and right. Although the Cobras only beat the Redbirds by two runs, they brought it home in the end. Let's Go Cobras!

Round Two Against the Redbirds

Tonight the Cobras will be facing off against the Redbirds for the first time since their terrible loss last Autumn. The Redbirds won 18-0 against the Cobras. For those of you who dont remember the game, the Cobras literally took a beating from the beggining. During the third inning, outfielder Matt Roland took a fall, resulting in a torn ACL and MCL that displaced him for the rest of the season. Pitcher, Grant Owens also suffered a mino rotator cuff injury, but should be back in the game today.  I know we're all looking forward to the outcome of today's game, any predictions?

What a Catch!

Im sure we all saw the excitment of the crowd during the seventh inning when Tigers player Tony Manzucco hit a 94MPH fastball into the stands, only to be caught by six year old Logan Smith*. This little boy might have a baseball career ahead of him, with a catching arm like that! After the Cobras 8-1 win against the Tigers, we caught up with Logan and his dad Matt.  

When asked about the event, Logan said "Im so excited because I know everybody wanted this ball and I got it!" Logan made sure to tell us his favorite player was Mario "Vale" Valenzuela, who happened to pitch the very ball Logan got his hands onto. His father chimed in and told us how happy he was for his son, "This is a big moment for both of us. I can say that I've always wanted to catch a ball and although I didnt catch this one, Im glad to say that my son has had the opportunity. Even if it was just luck, we'll remember this day forever" He and his dad plan to try to get the ball autographed this evening. 

Much like for Logan and his dad, baseball is more than just a game for many. As is the case with this dynamic duo, baseball has always been a way to bond and build the essential father-son relationship (or any relationship for that matter). But let's keep making fans as long as possible. After all baseball provides companionship, meaning and a pastime for many fans of not only the Cobras but other teams aswell. It's experiences like this that build a community an fuel the meaning of the game itself.

Talk about Tasty!

Looks like Budweiser Stadium is serving up some delicious new treats this season! The newest creations include the  "Bambino Burger", "Alpha Dog", and "Sixth Inning Sundae". What exactly are these concoctions? Let's start with the Bambino; a one pound beef patty, stuffed eight ounces of cheddar cheese, jalapenos and cream cheese, then wrapped in twelve peices of applewood smoke bacon. But wait, theres more! The Bambino is topped with a stack of onion rings and waffle fries all served with lettuce, tomato, onion and fresh avocado on a buttered and toasted sesame seed bun!

Bacon must be the delicacy of the season; there is yet another bacon-wrapped gimmick available for you meat-lovers out there. The Alpha Dog is availalble in bratwurst or hot dog form, and comes topped with chili-cheese fries. Then, theres the (relatively harmless in comparisson) Sixth Inning Sundae. This sundae is made to be eaten easily. It come with a choice of three scoops of ice cream and a variety of toppings; ranging from bananas, strawberries, whipped cream, and Oreos to fried snickers and yes, bacon. The sundae is served wrapped in a belgian waffle. 

Starting off the Season with a BANG!

Today marks the beggining of the 2012 baseball season. With that in mind, the Cobras got off on the right foot. The usual ceremonies went as planned; with the National Anthem sung by non-other than the Cobras Manager, Greg Kingsley, himself. In celebration of the Cobra's 50 year aniversary, the 7:00 pm game opened at Budweiser Park with a suprise firework show. Fans roared with excitement from then on. The Cobras had a steady lead in the first inning; with rookie Graham Wallace hitting a home run "right off the bat" if you will. The Cobras continued to lead the game through the seventh inning, until the opposing Devils had a streak of luck and hit 4 runs in the eighth inning; tieing the game. Both teams scored in the ninth inning; causing the game to play one extra inning, in which the Cobras brought it home!

Cobras Now Home to Rival Teammates

With the 2012 baseball season in full swing, fans are anticipating all the usual excitement surrounding the Coover Cobras. The Cobras have an exciting year ahead of them, with TWO promising rookies; Graham Wallace and Lance Caine. The two boys, from rival college teams, are both eagerly anticipating the upcoming year. But, will the two be able to settle their differences? After all, it was Wallace’s fastball that struck Caine’s best friend and teammate William Cole, directly in the face. Not only did this injury cause serious pain to Cole, leaving him with a broken nose and weakened vision, but cost the Titans the College World Series title. About his new teammate, Caine has said "We're very prepared for the upcoming season. Graham and I have no harsh feelings to eachother, and are looking forward to another successful year. We'll both be winning this time around," That being said, The Cobras couldn’t be more excited to have two new pitchers from some of the best reigning teams in college baseball; the Hartville Titans and the Strasburg Huskies.  Surely, Wallace’s aggression will remain on the mound and not in the locker room.
